NRA lube cup grease identified

I was going over an old American Rifleman mag I bought with some old Handloader mags off of ebay.  It is dated Jan, 1949.  A short 2 page "How to Reload" story had the formula in it.  I have been collecting formulas and every time this one is quoted it is always with "What ever Cup Grease is"  Well this author stated it as Penzoil #305 with graphite added!  Now to see if it is still in production.  JB

You can do a whole lot better these days. Try plain old white lithium grease and beeswax. I'd avoid anything that contained graphite for use as a bullet lube. We have learned a lot since that was written.
