Feedback (opinions) please on the Beretta Stampede
« on: August 08, 2011, 09:22:38 AM »
Anyone here owned or currently own a Stampede? Your thoughts please. How does it compare with the Uberti's? Is the case colors on the frame real or chemically made? I am looking for a .45. I handled a .357 at a dealer and it felt pretty good overall and the trigger felt very good.

I have had one for a few years. Shoots fine . Colors look good , at the price I would guess chemical application. That said I like Ruger better.

Shootall,
What do you like better about the Ruger? Are you talking the Vaquero or the New Vaquero? I have rather small hands so I am looking for something that closely matches the Colt.  I have only handled the Vaquero's both the regular and the new, not shot them. I like the feel and trigger pull of the Stampede better. It would be my guess that the Ruger are stronger built but I am not looking to fire anything hot in it, I have a regular Blackhawk for that.

Its made in America first of all. Ruger seems to have a better action . It also has a stronger action. Some of the new Rugers more closely match the Colt frame I think.
Like I said the Stampede is a nice gun , I haven't found a fault with mine yet.
So now you are thinking if he likes Ruger why did he buy the Stampede  ;)  . Good ? , Cause I got 3 for buying product . My sons each got one. My oldest carries his while hunting. All three shoot to point of aim with Winchester ammo .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I own two, one in a .357 and one in a .45 Colt. I like them better than the Ruger Vaquero because of their size, balance, cylinder "tightness", trigger, and accuracy. The "case colors" are chemically made and their frames are not as strong in the .45 Colt as a "Blackhawk"; however, they should be as strong as a "New" Ruger Vaquero. (Ruger makes a great "cowboy" pistol and I have owned several, but I do not care for the way they load and have had "issues" with cylinder dimensions in their .45 Colt.)  The Stampede is just a "fancy" Uberti subject to the same individual "flaws" found in some models and brands.

The ones Ive looked at were very nicely done, and passed my cursory checks, but I couldnt talk myself into the price at the time(s), then a friend almost gifted me his reworked Uberti when he got out of CAS. If I find a used one on a gunshow table I will still take another look......

I have had a Stampede 45 colt now for about 3 years. My 1st imppression was, "What I nice trigger pull"!!!!! Every Ruger I own has had a $95.00 to 125.00 trigger job. After my 1st one I just couldn't live with the rest unless they had good triggers. Anyway, Yes, the Ruger is stronger, it should be, but your buying a Colt SAA clone, you already know going in, what your going to shoot out of it. It is a very accurate revolver, even oweing to the fixed sights. I shoot handloads, utilizing a 255gr, SWC @ Colt SAA velocities. If I want 300's at 1250, I will pull out the Bisley. Believe me, the Colt loads are more fun.
Now the truth, my Wife bought me this revolver as a present, quite honestly, I would have never given them a 2nd glance had she not given it to me. In fact, I was looking at the time, at getting "another" Ruger. I've heard "accounts" of the colors not holding up. Well mine are fine, and this thing is carried alot, in leather, it has become my personal favorite packer.
My personal opinion is to give it a good look over, right out of the box you will have a revolver you will not have to do nothing with, but load it up and shoot it, and that means NO trip to a 'smith for a trigger job.
