CVA Wolf Day

So yesterday was BEAUTIFUL! It rain 3 times, stayed cloudy and cold. Perfect to get some shooting in!
 
 I used my nephews Wolf as i may be hunting with it in Colorado this year if i don't ever get my Optima's stock back. So this one is all dialed in.
 
 100gr Blackhorn209
 250gr Thor .500"
 CCI 209 Magnum primers
 
 
 
 70 yards.  Bulls eye is 3" in diameter.
 
 
 I tried loads of 105 and 110gr and while they tightened up a bit, shots 2 and 3 always impacted lower for some reason. Barrel heat, i dont know but i'd just rather stick with the 100gr load as its consistent and accurate.  This should be dead on at 100 yards as well.
 
 
 Now my brother in law will be using sabots  this year during our new mexico hunts and so i wanted to figure out a good starting point.
 
 I first loaded up with 100gr blackhorn209, cci 209 mag primers, 260gr harvester scorpion pt golds and the black smooth harvester sabot. 70 yards.
 
 
 Not bad!
 
 
 Switched my sabot over to the MMP24 that ray sent me to try out with these bullets.
 
 3/4" center to center! The 3rd shot will to the bottom right hand hole. The little repair sticky  got pushed it by the bullet. My bad!
 
 
 My brother in laws Wolf will use a scope so we should be able to cut the group size down a great deal. But its still nice  to know that the Wolf will shoot nicely with open sights.

Hi there.  I have a CVA Wolf also and love the heck out of it!  Great accurate rifle at a great low price.  While reading your post I saw you write about something that happened to me while I was sighting in my Wolf.  You mentioned that shots two and three would always be a little lower than shot number one.  This happened to me too until I started to swab in between each shot.  Once the fouling was removed from the barrel, point of impact returned to dead center.  It wasn't a full cleaning; I would just wad up a paper towel and push it through with the ramrod (full cleaning to be done at home!).  Once I did that my three shot groups started to touch with no flyers!  Good Luck!
