Finally scored on one.
« on: August 12, 2011, 11:45:53 AM »
I had to take Patty's van in for service, and my favorite candy store is on the way.  After the service stop, my friend Fred and I stopped at Tony's Gun Shop in Pickford, MI.  Fred picked up a nice Marlin bolt action .22 mag, and I came home with a Whitetails Unlimited 7mm-08 in like new condition, pretty wood, etc for 195.00 and the guy threw in a used but good camo padded gun case.  Naturally, it's an ejector which I'm not wild about.

Patty's on her way home now, and I'll wager before we go to bed, it'll be hanging in her rack.  Oh well, win some loose some.

Petemi, I don't know how she even keeps track of them all anyway. Ya can tell her guns these days may very well be better than money in the bank. Also, to my surprise or dismay, my cd is getting .4% I think I'd be better off with guns. If she gets mad you can show her my post if ya want.

Tim, they are a pain in the a$$.  Fred and I shot his new bolt .22 mag and both '08s, extractor and ejector.  We spent more time picking up missed brass than we did shooting.  If the .32-20 was an extractor that whole fiasco wouldn't have happened.

Thanks,

Pete

Off subject but: You can get 1.5% on a 6 month CD from M&T bank.  Don't know if they have them where you are.  Trying to help you fellas make some money. :) , so that you can buy some more Handi's.  ;)

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Congrats on your purchase Pete!  If you want to keep that gun on your side of the gun rack, just tell her it's not enough different from her .270 to bother with.  :)
That stock and frame you got from me last year came off a Whitetail's Unlimited 7-08 that I had bought.  It shot great but wasn't comfortable for me to shoot after the accident so I let it go.  I should have waited longer to see how I healed as I now I'm better and have another 7-08 barrel on the way.  One should never make these decisions quickly!
Good to see you guys this last weekend and looking forward to next year already!  44 Man

You know, Lewis, I was stupid.  I looked at the sights on your .45LC and didn't think to try shooting with them.  I'll do it next year if you bring it.  Perhaps my eyes would work with them.

I just got an eyeopener.  I stopped in town to pick up some 7mm-08 ammo and asked for two boxes of Federal.  One went back immediately.......29.95 per box :o :o :o A buck and a half a shot.  I bought one box to sight in the new rifle.  I ran home and checked the brass inventory.  I have 120.  I ordered dies and bullets.

Factory ammo?  Do they still make that!  he he.  I was very fortunate, I was given a several 7mm BT's, a small box of partitions, and a bunch of 150 gr corelocks with my 7-08 which I have already loaded up.  I should be set for a while for shootin'.  I also received a box of Federal fusion 140 gr bear claw's with the gun, those I have been hoarding for a special hunt someday.  I'd sure hate to have to buy several boxes of those!  44 Man
