Need extractor for Charles Daly Field Model 12 ga.
« on: August 10, 2011, 07:04:04 AM »
I have a Charles Daly 12 ga auto (Field Model ) made by KBI that needs an extractor. I think Charles Daly/ KBI has went under and finding parts is iffy. If anyone knows of an extractor from another brand that would fit this model or knows of a source I would appreaciate the help. I'm sure I'm one of many looking for parts.  Thanks alot. greer

Try to find out who is the actual maker of the shotgun.  Charles Daly / KBI were importers, not actual manufacturers, and imported numerous brands of weapons.

Bigeasy.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I thought KBI was the manufacturer and Charles Daly was the importer. The gun is made in Turkey and thats all the info I can get from the gun itself. I'll do a little research and post it. Thanks again. greer

I believe the gun was manufactured by a company called "Akkar" in Turkey. Thanks again. greer

Thanks for the link. The extractor was sold out. It has been for quite awhile. The extractors in those shotguns seem to be in demand.               greer

That's a bad sign. I'm not afmiliar with the gun in question but if parts are available all xcept one then there may be a problem with the metallurgy or the engineering for those parts.. Good luck on your search.

Thanks. They are good handling, light weight shotguns although long term durabilty may be questionable. This one is in perfect shape except for the extractor.        greer

Seems to me someone else was / is marketing a line of Turkish semi-auto's, though I cant remember who.  Might very well be the same gun, if you can find who.  Might want to try Googling some, and find the original makers address, and write them.  Might get lucky, as I doubt the actual maker is out of business.  Another option would be to find a real gunsmith (not a parts changer gunsmith) who knows how to heat treat a piece of metal, and how to use a file to make you one that will last.

Larry-- There are a lot of smiths and parts companies that can make parts such as an extractor, but most people don't want to pay for them!!! The time involved is a big investment and perhaps more than the gun is worth..  You could talk with the fine folks at Wisners..(they're on the net) and get their take. Very knowledgeable people and they do make parts, although a 'one of' may be a bit pricey, they may have an alternative..

As far a making the part, if I had an extractor to go by I might consider it but this gun is probably worth $200.00 tops and I'm sure the owner wouldn't want to put too much into it. I just told him I would try to find one. I didn't know they were this rare. Thanks.     greer
