I had Wayne York rechamber and rebore a 22 Hornet to a 25 Remington. It will hopefully be my antelope weapon this fall.

218 Bee. It is a little bit shorter round than the Hornet, but it doesn't know it not supposed to shoot well with that long throat.

Sounds like a project for the barrel we talked about.

I'd love to rechamber one to .22 Super Jet.  It's a nearly forgotten wildcat round that would be great in a Handi.  I was thinking about going with the SJ when I rebarrel my Martini...

My son and both recamber 22 hornet to 219 Zipper.
Both are shooters. I have another hornet that I am going
to recamber 224 GNR as soon as I get it to gunsmith.

Those are all good rounds.
I already have a barrel in 225 Winchester someone else did on an old 22 Jet barrel, (DUMB).
I also have a 25 Rem in a Remington model 30S Express and love that thing. Took my first 2 deer with it. Hard to beat that old 117gr round nose bullet!
The 218, while a good round, doesn't overly impress me that much.
The 219 is cool but cost wise, strictly a reloaders thing.
I was looking for something that I can either load for or shoot factory in if I want, so I am leaning more towards the 221 Fireball.
I have an old 10" octagon contender barrel in 221 that is a great shooter so I am already set up as far as reloading equipment goes.
Anyone know what Wayne would charge to do a 221?

Historical Notes:

The 22 Super Jet was developed by gun writer Dan Cotterman and the data first published in the July, 1962 issue of Gun World magazine. It is based on the 22 Remington Jet, which is fire formed in the 22 Super Jet chamber. It can also be formed from 357 Magnum brass cases because it is essentially a 357 Magnum necked down to 22. There are several versions of this cartridge, but they are all very similar. The Ackley version, or Improved Jet, and the 22 Sabre Cat by Christian Helbig are practically identical, and loading data can be used interchangeably with the same results. These cartridges are also very similar in performance to the 218 Mashburn Bee. Their primary purpose is to provide a rimmed case for use in single shot rifles.

General Comments:

These relatively small 22 centerfire cartridges are ballistically superior to the factory 218 Bee and will push the 45 grain bullet an extra 200 to 300 feet per second in muzzle velocity. They are effective cartridges for their intended purpose, but the 218 Mashburn Bee will do as well or better, and is less trouble to make. The one advantage they have over the 218 Mashburn Bee is that the 357 Magnum brass is plentiful and cheap. The Super Jets are good 200 yard plus varmint cartridges.
