Alaska Hunting reg proposal book is out.
« on: September 20, 2011, 12:38:03 AM »
Just received my new book listing the hunting and game regulation proposals. There are a bunch and some could really impact folks. So take a look and make sure you comment or attend the AC and BOG meetings to make your wishes known.  I'm starting to feel that some of this predator management stuff may be going too far in some places. Still, I only saw one small moose calf while hunting moose this season.

I believe you can find the game proposals on line by going to Alaska Dept Fish and Game website.

I'm wondering about these proposals for youth seasons.  What's the potential for that to be misused? How do they work in other states?

Must be a lot of sheep hunters all fired up - there's a lot of proposals about residents vs nonresidents.

One proposal raises the concerns that pack animals like goats, sheep and llamas might carry disease to the wild sheep.

What about crossbows?  I don't know a thing about them.

And someone is re-proposing bonus points for draw hunts.  Guess they didn't hear how the BOG whacked down that idea last spring.

check them out!

Yea, I got mine in the mail last week.  Took it to a meeting and lost it.  Went by F&G and got another one.  We have an A/C meeting coming up in a week or two.  Bunch of proposals to stop any predator hunting or trapping on Federal land controlled by National Park Service.  That's a large chunk of Alaska.  Don't think they will pass, hope not.  Most of mine are in there.  Missing the one for "No Closed Season, No Limit On Coyotes".  But someone else put the same thing in.  Already had discussions with F&G about one of their proposals on Crossbows.  The part about no scopes or electronic sights.  None of the makers of crossbows make one with open sights.  They all come with either a scope or red dot sight.  I want to see an amendent to that one.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
