6mm TC-U questions
« on: September 02, 2011, 04:06:05 PM »
Here's a question for those of you who own 6mm TC-U barrels. What do the fired cases look like? What do your dies make them look like? The reason I ask this is, I have a 6mm TC-U reamer from Clymer. It is the same thing as a 223 Ackley Imp necked up to 6mm, just like the 6.5 and 7 versions. But today I was looking at the Accurate Powder reloading book, and it shows the 6mm version as a straight neckup of the 223, with a 23 deg. shoulder and same diameter body, where the 6.5 and 7 are different. I would like to use my reamer some day, but I don't know what 6mm TC-U dies will do to a case, nor do I know what the chamber in Contenders looks like. Can anybody help? Thanks!

It sounds like you were looking at a plain ole 6x45 in that manual.  The TCU’s all three are 1.445” base to start of a 40 degree shoulder with .006” body taper differing only in bore size, according to my Sierra Edition V 5th Printing in the SSP section.

Yes, I think it is a misprint in the manual. That is what I am hoping for.

Accurate has promptly answered my emails in the past.  Try that.

Yes, it is a misprint in the manual. I have a 6 TCU, and it is the same sharp shoulder straight case as the other TCU's. For some reason, that manual description is for the 6x45 case.

I don't have any pics of my fired brass, but if you really need one, I can probably get one posted up for you sometime today.

Thanks guys, looks like my reamer is correct. I'm going to have to build a rifle with it pretty soon. I appreciate the responses!
