Motorcycle Camping Trip

I've had an itch for a while now to pack up some gear on my bike and take about a three or four day riding/camping trip. In my travels here in Alabama while doing my job I've seen some beautiful places to pitch a tent, camp and fish for a while. Just camp for a night somewhere, pack up the next morning after some camp coffee and move on to the next place. Would like to start maybe around Lake Eufaula in east Alabama, move on to the coast to maybe Gulf Shores State Park the next day and then head to west Alabama to some private land and a killer bass pond I know of on the third day. I've got some travel tackle that's pretty compact and all the camping gear I need that will fit comfortably on my bike. Would like to do it sometime in the next month or so if I can get a few days of nice weather and before it gets Africa hot in this part of the world.

Yep,that sounds like alot of fun,I'm planning a trip myself and doing some camping. I'm leaving the first part of June and heading to Colorado for about 7 days.Its going to be a hot windy ride across Oklahoma and Texas,but should be close to the mountains of New Mexico by 2 pm. It sure feels good to wear a leather jacket in the middle of the day on some of the pass's in Co. ,and its over 100 degrees in Oklahoma. Have a good trip,and be safe.  Digger

My trip went very well.Met my friends from Cal. in N.M. and rode 550 to Durango,camped out at Mesa Verde.From there through Teluride,and spent the night at Montrose with a eve trip in the Black Canyons Park.
The next day was on the road to Silverton,Durango,Pagosa Springs,and spent the night there.The next day was Wofl Creek pass.South Fork,Lake City,Montrose,and Grand Junction for the night,with a side trip on the National Monument there.We split the next morn.with my friends headed back to California,and I back to Okla.
I nearly messed up on the way back with a side trip on the Grand Mesa,east of GJ.I rode close to 30 miles of temputures in the 26 to 30 degrees on top.I about froze todeath,with a few strips of black Ice in some blind curves that were marked 20 mph and I hit at 45 mph. It sure was hectic for a few seconds trying to get the bike up straight,and then laying in over again to keep from running off the road.
Next yr.I'll go the second wk of June instead of Mem.day wknd.
If you can make this ride,do it,its the most beautiful ride in the world,with snow melting,waterfalls everwhere fall hundreds of ft.
Going back in Sept.

How was the road up to Lake City from South Fork. Used to be good road but narrow. Caught some good trout in that lake by their.

 That road from South Fork to Lake City was okay but not great,and very sceinic. I rode the Grand Mesa again Labor day and it was great riding with lakes every where,and people fishing.All those lakes were frozen and snow covered in the Memorial day ride.
Ive got a trip planned for next yr.from OK. to California,up highway 1 to Portland,then across to Yellowstone,down to Grand Junction and spend a few days fishing on the Grand Mesa.So grab your bike and go with me.   Digger
