I believe that Stuck With Hackett can be viewed on the Science Channel.

The latest episode reads:
Hackett is at an abandoned suburban house. Rather than pay outrageous electric fees, he decides to create his own power. Hoping that by combining a car engine with a table saw motor, he can get the power that will allow him to enjoy life in the suburbs.
This kind of reminds me of the Red Green show on the surface ;D  I bet that Hacketts scenario would be much more plausible though...maybe :-\

He made a wood gasifier type of boiler and powered a small engine to drive a small rail vehicle a week ago, or so. crude, but it worked. He does explain why things work which is interesting.
I thought that he appeared at any time ready to blow himself up, but it didn't happen. Thankfully. As in, kids, don't try this at home, type of deal.

We used to watch the Red Green show on a Canadian channel that the village cable network provided.  :) I looked forward to his show... He used lots of bailing wire & duck tape, just like I do.  :o
