Do Mexican Immigrants Assimilate?

My Son's MiL was a typical example of that here.
Never bothered to learn English, never worked for wages one day in Canada.
She went back to her home country every winter for close to six months. She collected Old Age Security( Canadian Social Security) for the entire year.
After 10 years of residence she doesn't even have to stay in Canada at all to receive OAS for the rest of her life. With the type of economy and currency in her native country she is well off.

That's almost as good as being In Congress in America .

it is going to be very interesting to see what is going to happen when they let all these mexican and gang bangers criminals out of prison here and elsewhere.who is going to feed them and where are they going to get the medication some are on now.and work to eat.sounds scarey.

Many Americans are finding it difficult to keep giving up freedoms to live as a citizen. Most feel they give up freedom to be protected . When the govt. allows all who wish to cross the borders un checked or turns convicted felons out and gets involved with other countries and others politics that cause them to attack us some may think enough is enough. It could be a bad time ahead if those in charge don't consider the message the American people are getting. Action speaks louder than words and many are wising up to the spoken BS.
And we didn't touch on jobs shipped else where !

There are no Mexicans only descendent's of Spain a concurring country still at it through the back door disguised as a different peoples that don't exist

Mexico actually is composed of 3 different races, which still don't usually mix.
European whites - those Mexicans who are descendents of the original Spanish conquistadors, and european  immigrants mostly from Spain. Approx. 9% of the population.
Mestizos - those Mexicans who are descendents of mostly white fathers and native indian mothers.  This group was a result of the lack of white woman in the colonial days, and "urges" of the white males of the time (most were illegitimate). Approx. 60% of population.
Native American (Indian) - descendents of the original peoples of Mexico. Approx. 30% of population.
The other 1% is a mix of black (descendents of slaves), black-indian, & black-mestizos.

But it was not America when they were here first.A large part was Mexcio ruled and populated by spain.Do not mexicans speek spanish just like spain

According to the Mexicans they speak Mexican.  The difference is the large amount of indian words mixed in with spanish, but I concur.  They predominately speak spanish, along with native indian dialects.

A friend of mine rants about people calling him Hispanic. He says: "I searched the atlas and can't find Hispainia anywhere. I am from Mexico, I'm Mexican."

Hispanola, the island that has Hati and the Dominican Republic on it.  A hispanic is someone from Hispanola.  So could be Dominican or Hatian.  Terms are started and then applied to others similar to them.  the word WOP to that was posted to Italians after the second world war.  The WOP ment With Out Papers.  Meaning he was smuggled here and can not legally work and needed to be paid under the table.  Much like FOB (Fresh off the Boat) is applied to Asians and pacific islanders.  Little languange or social skills dealing with our coulture.  Heck in China they do not have the concept of lines.  Once a week now they have loine days and make everyone line up and wait thier turn rather than just push forward and mob a bus or stores.

In addition to what mcwoodduck said about the island Hispanola, which has Haiti & the Dominican Republic on it. The term Hispanic comes from references to Spain, where the conquistadors came from.  Spain was known as Hispania during Roman times, it meant "land of the rabbits".

Still sends money home to dad who moved back to mexico

Assimilated NO
 
But I bet his kids speak less spanish than he does
 
I bet they are pretty well assimilated.
 
 
But there are two societies in south Texas.  White and Mexican.  Pretty much they only mix at the middle and higher income levels.  The poorer mexicans live in the barrios or whatever you want to call them.  The poorer whites seem to have their areas.  In my neighborhood which is semi-rural (3-5 acre tracts), it's about 50-50 white/mexican.

The problem is the hispanics are from a place to close . They can come and go as they please . Others who came had no way to return home so they accepted American ways of life , kept some old world ways buy fitted them in. The mexicans come here like us going on vacation and living like we do at home and going home is in the plan.
