Why? Why? I'm rippin my hair out Why?!!!

I got a Browning Buckmark Challenge, brand new, as a gun for my kids to learn to shoot with.  They market it as a gun for people with small hands. Why, then, do they make the trigger pull so darned heavy? It's got to be 8 pounds.  That's no good.

I took it to a local gunsmith to have it lightened to 2.5 pounds.  Is this a complex procedure or can I expect it to work smoothly?  Is it just a matter of putting in a lighter spring?

It's a great gun and it's perfect for what I want, except for this one trait.  The trigger breaks cleanly with no creep at all, it's just too heavy.

Now I know what they mean by "Lawyer Trigger".

Almost any weapon can have the trigger improved.  Autoloaders usually are a bit more difficult and may cost a bit more, they do in my shop.  Still it shouldn't be prohibitively expensive...  I started my kids off with a single shot winchester M67.  Then let them progress to an SKS,  The trigger on the SKS is horrible.  They learned to adapt and when switched to a 700 Remington, were extatic.  My daughter is a really gifted game shot.  My shot still needs to overcome his 'buck fever'..  Glad to see you teaching your kids to shoot.  They are the future of the sport and perhaps the only salvation for the second amendment and our freedom..
