.45 colt Ruger Redhawk reloads
« on: October 10, 2011, 05:37:44 AM »
Everywhere I look I find "Ruger Blackhawk, Thompson Center or Freedom Arms only" for stout .45 Colt reloads. Can the new Ruger Redhawk be put in the same category?

Yes, Redhawks fall into the same category.  The Super Redhawk is just slightly stronger, but no need to push your loads all the way to the moon, either.  Just get into a speed/accuracy level you can work with and keep consistent with.  I've done barn burner H110 loads from my .45 Colt Blackhawk, but typically accuracy suffers some.  If you aren't in brown bear/moose country, everything else will go down pretty easily with 250 or 300 gr. xtp's and 10 gr. Unique or similar loads.  ;)
