CZ made 98 Mauser air rifle trainers too.
I am lucky enough to have one of them shoots lead balls and functions very closely to the real rifle.

CW

Yep, the one I had was made in the late 30's before Mauser moved the factory in Germany.  Had someone not cut the forestock trying to "sporterize" it, it would have been worth close to a thousand.  As it was, I traded it for a rolling block.

Ben

WOW!!!  I figured it was worth a buck or two..but a G note!!  I'm gonna to have to look into the possible values on it!!!

Well boys, I guess Im lucky because I have two of them. One is missing the firing pin and I have yet to be able to find one to fix it. Any help would be great.

Link to old Mauser KKW 22.  My research found this was used to train the "Hitler Youth".  Under Warsaw, he could only mfg. limited arms.  The one I had shot extremely well.

Great post and one that, because of a recently read article in one of the rags I pick up for free at the local gun shop, I had to comment about. (I'd rather buy powder than magazines.)
The article was about one of those semi-custom rimfire bolt actions that pushes a thousand dollars and couldn't be had for less than seven hundred used, and how the author was so pleased with half to three quarter inch groups at fifty yards.  Ironically I had done some thinkin' about taking the plunge recently.  You know the article title; I'm sure it's been used more than once..."Once in your life you owe it to yourself to get a real top-of-the-line rimfire..."
Then I decided to take out my old 69A with a steel Weaver K4 - both from the fifties I suppose, and shoot some groups.  I had never really done much more than sight in this little squirrel rifle.
Well after a couple of hours at the shooting bench and covered with rimfire brass cases, I left for home without any further thought of spending nearly a grand on another rimfire- quite content with a healthy stack of fifty yard groups between .200 and .800 and an average and standard deviation (I am an engineer so yes, I had to calculate some statistical measures) that says I am more likely to shoot about a .600 group than anything else.

I'll thrown in a vote for the Remington 513.  My dad gave me his, and it is a better shooter than I am.

I've been shooting my 69A for groups recently.  More of them are inside a half inch than those that are over, at 50 yards with an old 4x Weaver and hunting grade ammo (Federal and CCi standard velocity).
Of course, now that I just epoxy bedded the barreled action, I probably ruined it.

I just got into collecting these older 22's.  I have 5 older pump rifles right now.  I'm interested in the savage, remington and the stevens falling block,  crackshot single shot rifles too.  I find these affordable sometimes and some are a little higher price wise.

My point is its never too late to start shootin and collecting these old 22 irons.

Marlins are shooters!!

Got this old Rem 552 on a gun trade recently, and took it to the woods (range)yesterday.
I wanted to test it's ability to shoot shorts. It's advertised as the only American made simi-auto to cycle all three 22's Short, long and LR. Not only performed flawlessly, but it was also very accurate.

Even tried some CCI CB shorts in it. Didn't cycle all of them. I didn't really expect it too. ;D

I have a model 514, Remington youth model. I used it for coon hunting for several years and several thousand rounds. It always performs and has never let me down. I gave $135.00 for it and will keep it until I die.

This can get very addicting collecting the turn of the century and late 1800's older 22cal pumps, bolts and single shot boys rifles.  My pride of the fleet so far is a 1898 hopkins & allen 922 falling block 22 boys rifle so far.  I also have an older remington rolling block 22cal boys rifle too. I been also looking at the older cooey 22 bolt rifles too.

Cool, good to know.  Currently looking at one used also.  Really like the .22 short concept for later season shooting when leaves are off.  ;)
