TCR extractor problem
« on: September 09, 2011, 02:48:23 PM »
I have a few TCR's...quite a few times I have experienced a failure in the extractor to release the fired case. The extractor flange will not lower enough to let the case over-ride it.. It usually results in having to remove the extractor and re-ninety degree it. Is there a permament fix?  thanks "L"

For what caliber or calibers does this occur? Is there a chance an extractor for one caliber was put in a barrel of a different caliber? I've shot TCRs in a number of calibers and don't remember having that problem. Is the little leaf spring in with the extractor. I think it is required with rimless cases but not with rimed cases.

Becareful, they seem brittle as hell and you cannot get them from TC anymore- I know, I tried with them for months.  Becareful trying to straighten them!  I have a barrel that can only shoot wimpy loads because the extractor that came in a used barrel was bent as you say.

good luck and regards,

Thanks for imput, My problem appears to be soft material of the extractor. I shoot moderate loads...50grs 4064 behind a 150gr bullet. If the case sticks , the extractor bends....this problem exist on three of my six TCR's.  Question is...can I harden the extractor.
ps..just finished polishing the chamber....
