1997 SB1 Frame
« on: September 27, 2011, 05:17:32 AM »
Ive got an SB1 .410 shotgun that I purchased new in 1997.

I recently called H&R to see about purchasing a .44 mag barrel for it.

They told me that they cant install a .44 mag on anything made before 1999.

Is there a difference in SB1 frames made prior to 1999? Or what is the reasoning for this?

Has anyone here fitted a .44 mag barrel to an older SB1 frame successfully?

Thanks!

so I take it if I were to purchase a .44 mag barrel from someone here (or elsewhere).. the chances of it working (and not blowing up in my face) are at least better than average  ;D

It will work fine if fitted correctly.  ;) H&R recently changed their acc barrel fitting policy on older frames, I think they'll still fit the 357 and 44 mag to SB1 frames made 1987 and on, but the acc barrel page doesn't say that, Customer Support has been know to give misinfo a lot, so it doesn't hurt to make a second or even a third call to correctly answer your question if you really want a factory fitted barrel.
