Best action fit question
« on: September 26, 2011, 02:37:41 PM »
I have 2 actions, one barrel.

Barrel fits one with a tiny V gap at the breech, so a bit off the barrel pivot lug recess to close the gap.

Barrel fits the other with no gap, but the locking lever is all the way down and lug engagement is very small, so hone the locking lug so the latch engages more.

Opinions requested on which action to use and therefore which fitting to do, latch lug or barrel pivot lug.

Leaning towards honing the latch lug...

Thanks...

Honing the latch shelf and keeping it true is easier than doing the same with the pivot.  ;)

Thank you again for the good advise.  I'm actually beginning to figure this out.
