I was offered a mossberg made for Western Auto in 20 gauge for $75. The guy said he bought it new many years ago and it never fed right and he threw in 100 shells. He was right it wouldn't feed right, shells hanging up on the non existant feed ramp! I removed the barrel and chamfered the lower edge of the barrel and fixed her up. It has a youth length buttstock, single action bar and it has a 28 inch modified barrel. After fixing it and rapid firing a box of shell thru it I patterned it. Stock is a bit short but it still points good for me. I patterned the barrel at 35 yards and its pretty tight patterned for a modified, more like full and the bottom edge of the pattern is right on top of the bead which is perfect for squirell hunting. The gun certainly has been hunted a lot even though it never worked right and it had been shot a lot I think. Think I'll put a slip on pad to lengthen the pull a bit to get my thumb out of my face a bit and use it for everything a beater 20 gauge is good for. Going to have to resist cutting the barrel back to 20 inches though.
