Daddy's girl in hospital
« on: September 28, 2011, 10:02:27 AM »
My daughter Mollie is in the Arkansas Childrens Hospital
today.  She has Spina Bifida and had to have a shunt implanted
in the left side of her head due to the one in her right side of her
head malfunctioning. Everything is fine, just a little (okay A LOT)
grouchy!
I have got to say, she is recovering fast as she is bossing everyone
around. At one point she told her momma "I got this!!"
She's only 8!!  Her poor nurse can't do a thing to suit her, so much she
wanted to know where his supervisor was!
She must be feeling better. Ya think?!? :o

Sounds like Mollie's doing great and acting just like a woman, bossing people around. Glad to hear she is doing so well, tell her I said hello, although she would have no idea who I am. Also you can tell her my wife and I will send our prayers (again) for her, and for the family as well. Perhaps we should send some prayers for the nursing staff as well!!...God Bless you all....<><....:)

My grandson has one because of Hydrocephalis. He has had it changed 3 time and he isn't 2 yet. It's amazing how quickly they recover. Hope this is the last time for both of them.

Mollie has been fortunate in that she has not had any issues
till now with her shunt. It was the original one she had gotten
at three months.  I would send a picture but since they had to
shave under her hairline to plant the shunt, she's a little self
conscious right now.

Right now she has ordered room service and is watching Justin
Beiber's movie on tv. With any luck, she will be out in three days
or less.
Thanks for Y'alls prayers and offers. It means so much to me and
the family that strangers and friends across the country will take
the time to post something in support. Graybeards rocks!!!

Glad she is doing so well.
It is always so stressfull when it is a child that is hurting!
I don't question GOD very often, but when it comes to young children sometime I have to stop and ask, why.

Prayers sent. When I was doing home care I worked with a toddler that had short gut syndrome. He was absolutely amazing. could teach a lot of adults how deal with adversity.

I'm glad all went well and your daughter is OK.

I know how terrible it is to be in Children's Hospital, we are there for weeks at a time, a few times a year with my daughter.

Mollie in the right place to get her well and back to being just an average girl soon.
Our prayers are you.with Mollie her loving family.

Just to update y'all, we were allowed to bring Mollie home yesterday afternoon! Her CAT scan and xrays showed the shunt was positioned exactly where the surgeon planned and it appears to be working just fine. She is still sore from the laproscopic work on her belly ( a LOOONG piece of tubing was attached to the shunt and was "tunneled" down her neck to her stomach to drain off the excess spinal fluid from her head into her abdominal cavity) and the back of her head is swollen, but Mollie is sitting up and alert, eating, and resting a lot better.

Thank you all again for you kind words of encouragement and prayers.
