Not to change the subject, but there is at least one federal agency that must have been closed down and that is the one that is supposed to monitor what is broadcast on radio and television.  Either they've shut down, or there are no longer any pretences about standards.

Correction... TV was/is entertaining but it was NEVER "entertainment".  It was always a method to gain viewers in order to attract more advertising sponsors so that the broadcasters could make more money.  Basically shows are made to be "entertaining" in order to get you to put your butt in the seat and stay there all evening so that they can pummel you with more commercials for crap you don't need.

Entertainment is where you pay a set fee to see a show/play/game that has a set format with no sponsors beating you over the head to buy their product.  You pay for the product (the show) up front and then there are no commercials.

Okay then, I guess we've pretty much hijacked this thread, so I just can't help mentioning The X Factor last night on tv.  Normally I don't watch that kind of program, but there wasn't much else going on and the station just happened to be on .  It caught my attention because the program is based in Seattle.  It is supposed to be Simon Cow's (or is it Cowl's) new talent search show.  Anyway, right out of the box the program starts out with a dipwad that claims to be a highly trained singer and musician.  He starts out howling and prancing around the stage and then he drops his pants and shows everybody his Johnson.  Paula Abdul got sick and I changed the channel.
As I said, the FCC, or whatever its designation is, must be shut down.

All new TVs come with a remote that can be used to censor viewable content.  There is no need for any government agency to regulate such things.  I accept responsibility for what I choose to see and not see and suggest others do the same.  That's also why I don't watch such crap to start with.  Then again, I didn't watch some of the shows referred to in the original post either.

Yeah, but who the heck would expect to see some moron display his woody on a talent show?  For that matter, I doubt that the show was live, so why wouldn't they just edit out the smut?  Even if it was live, it could be bleeped.  I think they're going for the shock and eeugh.

Thats it magooch, next week millions more will tune in, because they heard some schmuck dropped his pants on the last show. The show producers probably even paid the guy to do it.
Out of a couple hundred channels, there really isn't much worth watching. I usually end up at a baseball, or football game. Or a recorded episode of Sons Of Guns.
