CDNN Brand X?

The latest CDNN catalog lists a no-name GI style 1911 for $349.  Does anyone have one?  Are these a variation of the myriad of Filipino choices?

They may well be RIA (Rock Island Armory) made which I believe uses a Phillipine's manufacturer or assembler factory.  They usually come out fairly inexpensive and although rough, they work.
 
The Taurus brand of 1911, the PT1911, is also sold by CDNN for less than $400.  I recently purchased a PT1911 in 38 Super from CDNN and I am so happily impressed with this pistol I could almost squirm it is soooo good.  It matters not what bullet design or at what velocity, she eats and shoots everything I can load into the magazines.  She does not jam, misfire or fail to extract or eject.  This is the only 1911 I have ever purchased new that functioned perfectly right out of the box.  I can't say enough good things about it.

Gave them a call and they informed me that these were made in Turkey and imported by IAC. 


Reviews seem pretty par the course for the entry level 1911's and comparable to Rock Islands.

I am pleased with the PT1911 I bought several years ago. I'd have to look up the date I bought it, but it was one of the first available to distributors in my state. I haven't shot it much, but it has run flawlessly since day one. I have many more 1911s that I like better so my Taurus has less that 3k rds through it. I have been much luckier that Mikey, with the exception of a RIA "Tactical" all my 1911s run without problems with good ammo, mags, and properly lubed. That includes some inexpensive ones as well. IAI and Charles Daly among them. For the money, I think the Taurus is among the best bargain out there.  I'm betting the new Ruger will be a good choice as well.

My dealer today was pushing the cheap 1911's ona new guy to 1911's today he said there under $400.  I think its the cheap one from century arms.

My 2 RIAs & Taurus 1911, all .38 Super, work with any ammo I've given them so far.  Right out of the "box".   Not an intensive test yet.  I had a Colt 1911 in .45 that wasn't finished as well as the Taurus, and the trigger was better on the Taurus than any of them.  The Colt didn't seem to be any "better" or "nicer" than the RIAs, so I sold it.  My $2000. Les Baer is not 4x the gun the Taurus is except for price; still, it's VERY nice.
