New here! Just got a H&R in .444 for primitive weapon season, topped with a Nikon 3x9x40 Prostaff, and two boxes of 265 Leverevolutions!

Best advice is start with the Handi Basics 101 sticky, then spend some time in the FAQs and Help sticky, pretty much everything you want to know is in there.  ;) My 444 shot the 265gr LE ammo into 1½" before it was in the box at the factory, it was one of the first, if not the first 1:20" 444 made in 2007, shoots handloads excellent.  8)

Top load looks very nice, care to give me the details? I've been reloading for like 100 years, and will be loading for this rifle as well! BP has the 265 FTX's!

That's the Hornady 265gr FP using Hodgdon H4198 data right off their website or latest manual. FTX data is different due to the shorter brass and longer bullet.

Welcome to the addiction. I bought a 444 for primitive weapon season last year. After boresighting it I was going out to sight it in and shot a deer at 120 yards. DOA using the 265 FTX. Last day of season got another at 70 yards. DOA.

If the 444 is your first handi, it won't be your last. GBO is the best support team for us handiholics.
