ivory grips

 i have an old model stainless ruger vaquero that has been fully engraved and currently wears a set of genuine stag grips.
im thinking i want to change things up a little so i would love to find a set of ivories preferably carved or even schrimshawed
that i dont have to mortgage the house for cause i might not like em and go right back to my stags
anyone know of such a beast??
even simulated ivories would be good if they have the grain and look of the real thing
any help or thoughts or even just pictures of yours would be appreciated

  Hogue has white micarta that ages like ivory does.  its much cheaper than truivory grips.  might be worth a look.  i bought some hogue simulated (white plastic) just to get a feel and i kinda like the look and feel just wish they were more yellowed or even had the possibility to be that way.  but happy i didnt have to skip out on rent to pay for them.

American Holly grips are another that is similar to ivory and age with time.  Might look at them from several makers depending on gun model:

You may have read about my experience with Tru-Ivory.  But that may have been in the C&B Revolver forum...    I dunno... darn memory gets worse every day... I must be gettin that ol' timer's disease... 
 
Anyway, after I wrote them a curt email about their lack of C.S. and communications skills, I got an email right back from Tammy.  She apologised and said she "forgot" about my order.   
 
I'm going to go ahead with the purchase of a set of knife scales because I really want to see and work with their product.  Hi-ebber, and day always be a hi-ebber! I'm going to think long and hard before I pay what they want to put grips on my two Navy 36's! 
 
Darn shame.     I can't find any other faux ivory that looks like anything but plastic...

Richard, You silly boy........what ya saving it for?
But, FWIW, I couldnt justify the indulgence what with health insurance being a priority here, so I went with real custom wood grips in a lightish yellow maple burl. It doesnt pretend to be ivory, but gives a not dissimilar contrast to the blued steel, and looks great to me. After all, a lot of what we are trying to do is give a visual effect.
Honest and nice AND affordable........what could be better!
