help please
« on: September 09, 2011, 02:52:56 PM »
I have a brand new ultra slug hunter in 20 gauge i only shot once. when i shot it the case got stuck in the barrel. this is obviously a common problem from what i have read on here. I tried the bb trick and polished the ejector. however i am still having a problem ejecting fired shells. it will eject unfired casings clear across the room. could it just be the slugs i'm using ( lightfield 2 3/4 hybrid exp)? also when i load the fired shell it seems to be a little tight going in like the ejector is sitting to far up, but i do not have this problem with unfired shells.

Try polishing the chamber.

Do the shells you are using have brass or steel heads? If steel try some ammo with  brass and you might find your problem. Steel head shot shells in my experience swell on firing and can be difficult to eject.

You can always return it to H&R for repair, their service is hard to beat.  ;) When you contact them, ask for a return shipping label to cover shipping costs.

Unless that ammo is shooting remarkably good groups, I would try some others (come to think of it, Id be trying others anyway).

Gcrank, is there a reason you don't like the lightfields i have always heard good things about them and they work great in my 870. Do you have a bad experience with them?

Oh, I sure didnt mean to imply that I dont like those! I only meant that there are more choices out there and I couldnt be content until I had tried the most often recommended ones. Its an affliction with me, experimenting and trials..........
You may be perfectly happy with the groups you are getting and see no need to do like me, and I would be happy for you if they are working great, it sure would save you a bunch of messing around.
BTW, if it is true that the first load you tried is working you maybe should hurry down and buy a lottery ticket too!  ;) ;D

I have shot Lightfields in my USH 20 ever since I got it.
They shot the best right off the git-go.
The only problem I have with them is that they jumped up to $18.99 a box this year.
I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.
