Finally took the plunge
« on: October 04, 2011, 05:03:17 PM »
Well after some post and replys from the great poeple here, I finally took the plunge and ordered a Handi 30-30 through my local dealer,so it should be here in a few days. Also ordered a hammer ext. and a DNZ Game Reaper scope mount. Now i'm thinking a Weaver Classic V  2-7X32mm scope to top it off. Thanks for all the help to my questions guys.

Randy

Cool.  8)  Let us know how she does for you.  ;)  That's one of the calibers I'm really thinking about next, but I intend to ream mine to 30-40 Krag, since I already have a 98 Krag and load for it.  ;)  Seems like a no brainer for me.  hehe

Randy, good luck and have fun with your new baby.  If you go with the Weaver scope, I'd go with steel rings and not aircraft aluminum.  I've had the screws strip before I had them tight.  I recently bought a couple of Bushnell Banners and mounted them on Weaver rings....soon changed to Warne.

Good luck. My favorite handi caliber. 130 to 170 grain loads all fly well.

Good luck Randy, glad you decided to buy the Handi, especially in 30-30.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed.  Welcome to a new (at least it's a good) habit.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.
