How do you feel about 45 long colt for Def.
« on: February 08, 2004, 03:38:50 PM »
My main carry is a S&W 3 inch 629, I stoke it with Corbon 165 grain
44spl and carry 2 speed loads, one Corbon 44spl and one Winchester
210 grain silvertips 44 mag.
I ran accross a NIB S&W 625 3 inch barrel 45 long colt, I just love that thing but im wondering how the long colt performs. I have never had that caliber, it seems to compare to the 44 spl in ballistics so im not sure if I would want to dish out the high dollars this revolver is going for.

IIRC, the .45LC is midway between the .44spl and the .44mag in power. If you are sticking to factory ammo for defensive purposes, you will probably be happier with the 629 due to the much wider variety of commercial loads available.

On the other hand, sometimes you just gotta have a new toy to play with!
