.17HMR barrel
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:00:40 PM »
Do all H&R .17HMRs come with bull barrels, all the ones I've seen have the heavy barrels. I'd think I would like one with a standard contour barrel. I have one with the bull barrel and it just feels to heavy for a little gun.

Yes, that's the only way the Sportster 17hmr and 17M2 have been made, I think the 3-barrel combo they made several years ago came with a lighter contour 17hmr barrel tho, Kurt has one, maybe he'll chime in. Easiest fix is to put a laminated stock or other wood stock on it, then it will be more balanced.

If you 'have a friend with a lathe' it wouldnt be a bad job at all to thin one down. Tip: many light passes are better than heavy hog cuts.
