Sidekick scope options
« on: December 10, 2010, 04:57:48 AM »
Now that Tennessee has a two week long muzzleloader season with half of it generally falling during rut, I've decided that it's worthwhile to upgrade my optics. I used a BSA Huntsman on my Sidekick this year. The crosshairs began spinning around. It maintained zero long enough for me to bag an awesome buck at 150 yards but now it's going in the trash. (You get what you pay for I guess). What types of optics are you using on your Sidekick/Huntsman rifles? I don't want to drop a ton of cash, but I think a couple hundred bucks is reasonable. Are any of you confident past 150 yards?

Nikon Prostaff 3x9 on my Sidekick, as well as my 243, 270, & 3006. I got mine on-line for around $125. Wally World, Bass Pro etc. wants about 150-160. Reasonable price, lifetime gaurantee, I've found no reason to spend more $. I do have a Nikon Monarch on another rifle, but could've got 2 Prostaffs cheaper, wished I had.

Hey csi-tech, Congrats on the awsome buck!
I've heard good reports on the new Redfield scopes.

If you do throw your BSA in the trash would you PLEASE take the turrets caps off and mail them to me? I bought a used gun with a 4x BSA scope and it is missing one of the adjustment covers and the other one looks kinda rough. I'll gladly pay for the shipping if you will do this for me.

Thanks!

GOOD SHOOTING!

Nikon ProStaff 2-7x32 on my Sidekick. I am good to about 100 yds. but that is more me than the gun itself.

PM me your address slufoot and they'll go out this week. Those sound like great options! I never realized Nikon made a line that reasonably priced.

I really like the Sightron scopes.  My Dad has a Sightron SI 3-9x40 on his Remington BDL 30-06 and he loves it.  It handles the heavy recoil of the gun without any problem.  He shot a nice doe at 192 yds with it this year.  At 60yrs old his vision isn't the best but he made a great shot.  I also have a Sightron SII 3-9x42 and love that scope.  The optics are crystal clear and just as good as the Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 I have on my NEF Huntsman.

Sightron has a lifetime warranty on all of their scopes and the SI series scopes start around $115.

It's the only scope I'll buy from now on.  Check them out.  I KNOW you will be impressed.

This is my meat gun:

This rifle has taken more deer then any other gun in my safe.  I use a simple 2.5x Tasco scope.  It works great in the woods of Virginia.  I have tried numerous scopes, but the Tasco works best.

Just another voice in the crowd!!!

I had this old Bushnell laying around, so I put it on just to sight in... The whole deal shot so well, I'm reluctant to take it off!
