Where are Winchester lever actions made?
« on: October 24, 2011, 08:35:44 AM »
I picked up a gun magazine at the store and they had a large advertisement for the "new" models 1886, 1892, 1885, and of course the '94.

I got on Wincesterguns.com and checked these out. I clicked on the model 70 and in glaring script it proudly stated that the model 70 is made in the USA.

I noticed that this information does not appear on any of the specs for the lever action rifles.

So, friends, where are these lever actions made?  I had heard a very disturbing rumor that they are being cranked out in China.

Thanks.

Japan.

At the present time they are made in the Miroku plant in Japan.
Extremely well made, quite possibly better than most anything that's came out of the New Haven plant, since the company was purchased by Olin in the 1930's.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

There ARE, however, some Winchesters being cloned in China - mostly Model 1897/97 pump shotguns AFAIK.

Sometimes, one of those is seen by someone, and they tend to think every new Winchester is also made in China.

There are also Model 92's, Model 71's, & Model 1886/86's now being cloned in Italy by Chiappa.
