The DEC is running a drawing for deer management assistance permits (DMAPs) to be use in Beaver Meadows State Park in Chenango County. This continues a pilot program from last year.
There is a significant overpopulation of deer in that Forest which is 5,8016 acres (8.8 square miles) where last year hunters harvested a lot of deer using DMAPs (over 300 if my memory is correct)
The application deadline is quite soon (noon on the 15th) but this is an opportunity to take two additional antlerless deer in addition to any tags you may already have.
