Opinions??? Went browsing
« on: March 12, 2013, 05:09:51 AM »
I went to one of my local haunts (LGS) to look for more S&W N Frame revolvers.  At onetime the counter was over filled with these gems but again he had two or three left of the shorter barrels in stainless.  He also had a few 686's and plenty of S&W pistols.  But no selection of S&W N frames like he once had.  I wonder whats going on.  They were so busy doing paper work for selling guns there was no time to ask.  I wonder if S&W is changing over to no loc on there revolvers soon?  Or could it be the last hurrah for S&W revolvers and the auto's are taking over?   Any thoughts on whats going on with  the empty spaces were N frames once ruled the cabinet??  Maybe i need to start shopping elsewhere and spread out my search to the outer limits?

mg-willy;  When i first purchased my two new S&W Model 57 & model 58 the cupbaord was full of all the new S&W N frames wall to wall full.  He had the show model wth stacks of new ones underneath in the blue cases of every finish and caliber, stacks.  I waited too long to go back and get more.  The last nice one he had was a S&W M24  6 1/2" barrel in 44 spec in nickel finish.  Now he has the shortter N frame 44mags - 629's left. Now he is putting the 357's model 686 were the N frames once were.
I lile my ruger revolvers but there is something special about the fit and feel plus the balance of the N frame smiths. Heck i like them all.
But my very first S&W purchase was a 1948  S&W K22 22lr revolver that started all this S&W hype.  Its so dam smooth action wise.

Yesterday at one of my LGS I spotted a brand new S&W M58  w4" barrel in 41mag in nickel finish in the blue case for $599.  I have one already but do i need another one??  I'm torn over this.  Its in the clearance/sale section what a buy.  These list for $1,100 to $1,200.
I went to another LGS and asked the owner what up with the new S&W revolvers??   He told me he could order anything i wanted from S&W.
