One of my good friends had to plow up $30,000 of late tomatoes when his Guatemalans left. Many family farms are going under this year; many losing their land. A nice lady that I know lost her husband to cancer last year and has tried to run the farm herself. She will be one of them losing everything as her crops rotted in the field. Nobody but the illegals want to do this type of work. I can't help but feel sorry for my farmer friends.
The Guatemalans were trustworthy, peaceful, did exactly what you told them, always on time and hard workers. Now they have gone back to Guatemala never to return.
My opinion is that from the beginning, government freebies such as education, food assistance, and healthcare, paid for by taxpayers, should not have gone to foreigners. Then we would not have had such a problem. I blame the government as most all problems are created by the unintended consequences of their actions.
