STUCK CASE

I have been shooting 100 grain core lokts in a .243 with no problems but decided i would try some hornady 95 grain sst.Every hornady i fired stuck in the chamber and i had to take a cleaning rod to knock them out,could it be that they are loaded too hot for this rifle?I tried to look up how to polish the chamber from the FAQ section but the link wont work.could some share with me the best way to polish the chamber?

I believe the best route would be take a fired case, drill through the primer hole and put a screw down far enough to grab and chuck in a variable speed drill, coat the outside with jewlers rouge and slowly spin the case into the chamber.  May be some other ideas to come at you too though.  ;)

Just make sure you keep the rouge back from the throat area.  Typically stop it at the shoulder.

If your cases do not indicate a problem with the chamber, I would suggest to back off of the powder charge and see if that cures the problem. All rifles are not created equal. The chamber and or the barrel could be the problem. I have fired a load in a 25-06 that worked perfectly in a different rifle but destroyed the primer in my rifle. That is the reason the book says to reduce 10% and work up.

this happened shooting factory hornady ammo,I did notice some fine scratches in the brass after got it out

Hornady ammo has been known to be too hot for some Handis, their Superformance would be one to stay away from in an ejector rifle. I fixed the chamber polishing link in the FAQs, if you find a GBO link that doesn't work, add an s to forum in the URL address so it reads .com/forums/ and it will work, the URLs were corrupted in one of the last software upgrades, be sure to let me know about it so I can fix it.

Thanks, I had a 25-06 ultra that i tried hornady light magnums in and had the same problem.These are just regular hornady custom ammo 95 grain sst in .243 that are sticking.I wonder if they are too hot?  it says velocity is 2950 on the box

The Hornady Custom works great in my 25-06 Ultra, but there have been several reports of problems with the 22-250 ammo being too hot, wouldn't surprise me if the 243 is the same, after the chamber polish and ejector tune it may work fine tho.
