Reciever question.
« on: November 04, 2011, 09:34:33 AM »
Ok, Im sure this topic has been covered countess times so please dont toss any stones my way. Just looking for the easiest and quickest way to determine if my barrel can be changed on my H&R and NEF shotguns. I'm already aware that if at all, It would have to be another shotgun barrel or perhaps a pistol cal. I have also read that some reciever cant have the barrels changed at all. I think I can check it by serial number so what do I look for? Dont have a whole lot of time to research so your help and patience will be very appreciated.

If you have an SB-1/shotgun frame, you can change your shotgun barrel for any shotgun barrel except a 10Ga barrel.  You can also add pistol cartridge calibers and the BP 50Cal Huntsman barrel onto your frame.

You can verify what type of frame you have by taking off the stock.  If you have a solid piece under the stock (just a screw bolt hole) then you have a shotgun/SB1 frame.  If you have a skeletonized frame under the stock, it is a rifle/SB2 frame, this type of frame will allow you to use high pressure rifle barrels in addition to the shotgun barrels.

For additional info and pictures, go to the FAQs.  Hope this helps.
