Diamond Brand Traps?
« on: January 12, 2004, 12:53:03 AM »
Can anyone give me some info on this brand of traps.  I recently purchased about 70 longspring traps.  Most of them are #1's.  I was looking through all of them and noticed that a few have Diamond Brand on the pan with a small diamond cut-out in the pan.  I was reading an article in Trappers World yesterday and I saw mention of the Diamond Brand.  The article was speaking of a trapper from the 1920-30's and the diamond brands were the ones he was using.  If these are collector items I would like to know so I can stop using them and put them up to keep.

Thanks
TH

Although most Diamond brand traps do not have a lot of value, they are collector items.  I have mine dyed and waxed and put away in boxes.  Maybe in 100 years they will be worth something  :-)

The "Diamond" brand traps were made by Norwich Wire Works, Inc., Norwich, N Y from 1923 - 1931.

Nancy at Wiss Miss Enterprises has a few for sale.  You can get an idea of their values from her website.
For Sale: Old wore out trapper - rode hard, put up wet, high milage and earned every mile.
