« on: October 29, 2011, 05:24:50 PM »
Mike Tucker and I got started on rats today. The rat numbers are way down, after almost a year of flooding. We did a lot of paddling, and found some rats in pockets. Got out 86 stoploss for rats and 7Lil grizz for coon. Also put about 6 miles on the canoe.

My trapping partner Ray and i set up a private fish farm  ( 60 ponds) yesterday with 165 traps, mostly bodygrips in crossovers  between ponds as ponds are straight down on edge and no wading!!!!!  Lots of mink, and rat sign but will find out today when we check  as far as population.  We have set areas like this before and the  catch was  low vs sign.   Will try and take some pics, which  maybe Tom can do with his line and post....

Got 150 stoploss out on Saturday. Just got back after the first check, 6 coons and 65 rats, one damage and one with head and shoulders gone!!!

Going to the grand kids trick or treat event now. That is a change. Years ago I would be making more sets but then grand kids are worth more than rats!!!

Well the mink that ruined my nice extra large rat yesterday was in the trap today!!! Nice big buck mink. Revenge is sweet.
Started pulling sets today. I set very heavy to be out in 3 days and the catch dropped from 65-23 today.
New area will get set out Wednesday and Thursday.
Starting to see deer running all over the place now.
