sighted the .460 in today!
« on: November 10, 2011, 10:59:27 AM »
I wasn't going to use my .460 this year but use my .308(encore pistol) but I bought a red dot scope and sighted it in today. I shot it at 25 and 50 yards and seemed to hit pretty much the same spot being  about 1 inch higher at 50 yards than 25 yards on impact. When your holes are darn near 1/2" I don't think that is much of a difference.

Chris,
I don't know....that could be the difference between placing the bullet through the left atrium and the left ventricle of a deer's heart. :D  You may want to work on it more. ;D ;D

Thanks, Dinny

If I hit the heart I don't think I will even see a vein or artery or 1/3 of the deer's lungs. That .460 is a pretty big bullet still moving pretty fast. A 200 grain bullet moving at 2500+FPS=a bad day for a deer with in my comfort zone. My wife said it best yesterday when she saw me shooting it. She had her fingers in her ears and when I fired the one shot with her next to me all she could say was "Goodness". I had the gun moving to the rear and upwards and a wife moving side to side from the blast. Firing something like that in a handgun is a close to God moment.
