Patterning
« on: November 14, 2011, 02:07:55 PM »
I'm patterning my mod.12 win. 28in bbl w/full choke. I've been sooting at some life size turkey head and neck silhouettes at 30-40yds. How many hits in the head, and upper neck should I be getting on the target to be sure of a good clean kill?  Using 1 1/4oz #6 shot I'm getting about 9 to 13 hits on areas I would think are lethal. There are more hits, but those are very near the edges, away from the brain, and spinal column.
Thanks in advance.

I have always used a pepsi can or other types of tin cans and if i had 10 or more shots in the can at 40 yards i considered myself ready to go but i normally got more maybe there is another load that might perform better? but what you have should get the job done very well.

Aim where the neck and body join. 10 hits will do.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
