.223 A.I. T/C 22"
« on: January 12, 2004, 10:47:51 AM »
Received a 22", 1:14 twist custom barrel in .223 A.I. for Christmas. I'm new to this board and to wildcat cartridges, but you guys seem to know so much I hope you can help me.

I read in the last issue of VHM that a Contender can not take pressures over 45,000 CPU due to the design.

I've been unable to locate any loading info for this round.  I'm aware that I should be able start with .223 Rem max loads but this is 47,200CPU w/ 40 g VMAX.

Have any of you any experience with this round?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  By the way it shoots really well while fireforming, was hoping for improvement in A.I. loads

Thanks
Rick

Case head size determines max pressure in the Contender.  You should be fine with any 223 loads.  The 45000 CPU is more for larger case heads such as 30-30, 444 size cases.
