(Mod.60 hands down)  8)   i own both the 10-22 and the mod.60 and shot them against each other.

+1

Out of the box, my 10/22 isn't in the same class as the 60. I was concerned about buying a new 60 after hearing stories about lower quality. After taking it to the range a couple of times, I can honestly say it is one of the most accurate 22s out of the box I've ever shot. It is as good as my 39a. My 10/22 will take another $100 minimum at least to get as good, and I'm not sure it can do that even then. I may have got an unusual model 60, but I am blown away with the gun so far.
Why spend more $$ for a gun so you can spend more $$ to get it to hopefully shoot as good as the less expensive gun? Doesn't compute for me at all.

I have owned over the years2-3 of each model.  Right now, I have my original 1st year of production 10/22 and a 795 about 2 years old.  The Ruger edges the 795 in accuracy, but that is no surprise, since it trounces newer stock Rugers.  Generally the Marlins have had the edge, my 7000 which I gave to a grandson, is VERY good.
Actually, I believe the 10/22 action is better (simpler, smoother) although over the years I believe marlins generally have the edge in accuracy.   Just my  $.02

This thread inspired me to buy a M60 limited(6082)no reserve on gunbroker for $64(course add $50 for shpng+FFL).Test fired well,so stuck a better scope on and am impressed with it.Looking for a 50th anniv. model also. Any leads? Have three walnut(two liberty sporters)steel BP 10/22's that may get a break.I remember lusting as a child at my uncles (1965 or so) WALNUT M60,only walnut one i ever saw and he still owns it. My last M60 was traded for  ammo and cash for a hunting license in 1975.

That 50th Anniversary M-60 got a real nice report on gunblast.com.
"Several types of ammo, even the cheaper stuff, grouped into under one-half inch at fifty yards. Outstanding accuracy! "

One thing a 60/795 owner may wish to consider is the mounting groove for scope.   The factory groove is sometimes not well defined and with just the ring clamps, the scope may be inclined to slide a bit over time and usage.
I am about to order a mount to better accomplish firm contact.  The mount below will provide about 3" of mounting firmness.  Reviews by users both here and on Marlin owners, are positive...

Has there been a final answer?
How many say the 10/22 and how many say the M60?
I say the 10/22,
My 10/22T is very hard to beat in accuracy.

I'm going to say it's a toss-up in the accuracy department. Keeping in mind there are individual rifles from each that will shoot better than another. Like all guns. As far as the two rifles go overall, that is a matter of personal preference concerning design and features. I like my 1022-22" really good. And the only thing I can think of to say bad about my old M60 is that it did tend to jam a little during shooting sessions when it got dirty. Unless you get a bad one for some reason, either will handle the job of small game hunting well.

Well Country Boy,

i think you answered your own question...You said you  had owned a 10-22 and could not hit anything with it. And had owned a mdl 60 that shot good.  ;) Given that experience why would you even consider buying a 10-22...  :o

Personally of the two I would buy the Marlin, but I would look until i found one actually made by marlin/not remington...
