Talk about inflation!  It was 29 Palms back in the 60's!   ;D

I was stationed at Stumps. I liked Oki better.

My son has trained at 29 Stumps twice, both before deployments to Afghanistan.  He calls it "Satan's Butthole."  He MUCH preferred Oki.  He actually prefers Helmand Province to the Stumps.....at least in Afganistan there are mongooses (mongeese???) to eat the various creepy crawlies that want to live in your tent.  He says he saw bugs in the Mojave that CAN'T have originated on this planet....and there's more unexploded ordnance layin' around than even at Bagram!
