prostaff rimfire
« on: March 25, 2012, 12:03:27 AM »
I know I wrote something about this scope in the optics thread but I think folks that read this thread might find it of interest. I just recently replace the scope on my heavy barreled 10/22 with one of the Prostaff Rimfire 3-9 150 to make it a bit more versitle.(I previously had a old Lyman straight 10x target scope on it) Go to the Nikon website and they have a "Nikon Spot On" section/ link. Here they have a ballistics program where in my case I picked the prostaff 3-9 rimfire 150 model. They have a list of all the current 22lr ammo on the market, Click on the ammo your using set the range of where you'd have your scope sighted in for. Then it tells you at what range each circle of their BDC reticle is for. I looked up the cheap federal stuff I have been shooting and headed for the range and well once I got it sighted in sure enough the numbers they listed were right on the money.  I look forward to wacking some woodchucks and crows.

I've always wanted a scope I could set for range.  All the 3 Adjust centerfire scopes I've seen assume all centerfires are the same.  Obviously this rimfire one is not only caliber specific but also ammo specific.  Sounds great to me.  My 10/22 runs iron sights now for vermin control (nighttime) but my CZ American .22 Magnum has a Simmons 4.5 - 14 on it.
