45# in a modern bow is plenty. IMO get a quality bow instead of the cheaper bows. WHY? Better platform on which to improve you form, better performance, better value, personal customer service.
I deal Toelke custom longbows. Dan makes a model for my shop called the Plenty Coups Special. It is his Whip model with black glass instead of clear to reduce costs. $575. Compare that to "factory built bows like Bear or Martin. Besides who are you going to call at the factory and get real answers to real questions on a personal level and not as customer #5894711?
Make sure what ever you look to buy that you are not over bowing yourself!!!!!!!!! I see it all the time at shoots. My personal bows are 51# and yes they include a PCA Special (one of my favorites). It is what I carried this year. Good fit, grip and bow length, and proper bow weight go a long ways in getting optimum accuracy along with a properly spined and constructed arrow.
Above all make it fun and enjoyable!!
