Couldn't wait. Had to start my Christmas present already. Came on here and GB knows all about them. I love shrooms and think i'll see how long i can keep them going.

They grow mostly on rotting wood, right. I've eaten wild oyster mushrooms and didn't think they were that tasty. There weren't a lot of different mushrooms growing where we lived at that time, but there were inky caps, and I much preferred them to the oyster mushrooms. I have seen places that sell two or three species of inky cap spawn. For some reason I didn't see that they were selling morel spawn. If they had been I would have bought some of that, cause they are the king of the hill, top of the heap as far as mushrooms go.

I'm limited in Az what, when and where to find mushrooms. I got a kit to grow my own for Christmas. Their growing them in used coffee grounds.  Think i'll put a paper towel under the box and let one cap mature over it to collect spores. Use that to replant with. Their not morels but i still like em. Egg washed, dipped in flour and pad fried. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Here is their web site.  http://www.backtotheroots.com

My grandmother used to bring something from Indiana she called elephant ear. Some heads were as big as a slice of bread. Floured and pan fried i would rather eat those than steak, and i love steak. As a kid in Indiana one year we found morels 10-12 inches tall that crumbled when touched. That year you didn't hunt them, you tripped over them.
