ASPCA
« on: December 20, 2011, 11:41:52 AM »
Not sure where I should place this topic, so mod feel free to move it where appropriate.

I pulled up Amazon.com today for some last minute Christmas shopping and noticed a bar on the top of the web page stating something like

"thank you for supporting the ASPCA with your purchases"  The organization rang a bell, but I didn't recognize it and had a funny feeling I wouldn't like it.. So I searched it and it is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!!!  Also hidden behind  We-Care.com "Shop with a Purpose".

Frosted my cookie as it seems to be something that I signed up for? ??? I am going to contact Amazon.com and see if I can get an explanation.

Go check with your bank and make sure you are not signed up to give them a monthly amount as part of an agreement to purchase something.
I bought some cigars from Thompsons and they have a club thing that stole a few hunfred from me before I stopped it.

I don't think Amazon would allow them to automatically enroll you in a monthly billing.  A lot of the time amazon will run an ad for whatever organization and then donate a few cents of the purchase to that.  I don't think it comes out of your pocket.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

After looking into this further (Amazon hasn't responded yet) I found that this is similar to Midways Round Up for the NRA.  You check a box on your invoice to donate a portion of your purchase to the ASPCA, although your invoice does not increase.
Even so I don't like the blatant trickery!  Now instead of rounding up pennies on my Midway invoices I'm going to have to start rounding up dollars to make up for this deceiving practice.

Seems like all the lefty organizations like to hide behind names that require "interpretation" to know what they stand for. As in ACORN. Sounds like Peta has changed their name because too many folks were catching on.

We need to take the time to keep track of fraud like this
