I agree ! Here it is acceptable and legal to use deadly force to stop a rape. The coach who saw it should have stopped it and all who were "told" should have called the police. This is not an issue to be handled "in house" . The Paterno passed up his chance to do the right thing and is paying for it .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

When Paterno was told about Sandusky in the shower with a 10 year old boy, the police should have been called at that moment. Why even bother to tell someone above him on the status list. I don't care what he did for Penn State or its football program he is guilty. I'm already getting sick of hearing what a great man he was. He should even spend time in jail. Something is kind of twisted in his mind when he places his football program above 10 year old boys getting raped by one of his coaches.

Jesus, talking about children, said, whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me.

whatever you do to a child can affect the rest of their lives.... I was lucky enough to be a volunteer mentor to two different little boys at my wifes school and the one I have kept in touch with is now almost normal (asbergers).
those who just lead normal male lives can sometimes touch a child in many ways by their words and actions.

This is an interesting case, but all to common.  Keep in mind that Paterno has a law degree.

where do you get Paterno has a degree in law?

everything I have ever seen about him regarding his education says he was an above average student when obtaining his undergraduate degree at Brown.. and was admitted to the law school at Boston College.. but declined attendance because he was offered a job at Penn State (where he has been ever since)..

I have never seen anything that says he has any advanced education.. or ever done anything in his life other than play and coach football..

dont know.. the Brown website says he studied economics and graduated with honors.. im guessing a business major...

I know his father was an attorney by trade and supposedly got angry with him when he ran off to Penn State to be an assistant coach instead of going to law school.. but I imagine his dad had been gone for a long time before this indicent actually happened.. Joe isnt a spring chicken himself.. he has to be in his mid 80's by now.. even a decade ago when this would have taken place his father would have likely been reaching 100... I doubt he called pops up asking for legal advice (even if he were alive)..

NBC led into the news about the matter the other morning by stating that football at Penn State is like a religion.  If so, then  Jerry Sandusky must be like a priest and Paterno like a Bishop.  When this comparison is made, other recent scandals and the way they were handled come to mind!  It seems like Paterno's only interest was in protecting the standing of his program.

JoePa is 84 years old... it will take a couple of years for anything to get through the civil courts.. possibly alot longer depending on how hard he and the others fight..

then, assuming he is still alive at the time a judgement is rendered (assuming he is found at fault and liable by the courts) he doesnt have any personal assets to seize or fix liens to (all transferred prior to this case coming to light)..

about the only negative things that are going to happen to him is he will never get inducted into the hall of fame.. and this will be his legacy rather than his career record..

he'll never be criminally charged, never do a day in jail, and never pay a penny (other than attorney fees to defend himself.. which will likely be a small fortune..)

had this come to light 10 years ago.. he would have had a lot more at stake and a lot more to loose..

this late in the game, sadly its mostly just an inconvienience to him.. he doesnt get to retire in another year or two as a hero.. now he has to recluse himself and spend the last couple of years he has on this earth in the shadows..

Im betting his wife buys a nice property out in the country somewhere and he takes up gardening and spending time with his kids/grandkids.. and sometime in the next 1-5 years there is a 60 second blip on the evening national news that says "Joe Paterno, Penn State Coach whose career ended in scandal died today at the age of 86"... and thats the last we ever hear about it..

Looks like Paterno-Sandusky-Penn State is TOTI....tip of the iceberg......this is coming back to haunt the aristos of the TPTB.... a story made for Discovery that was not allowed to be broadcast.......TM7

Did a search for this Lawrence E King ( Larry King). BOY! even the WWW is pretty silent, regarding this piece of human dung. Think there might be some folks in high places keeping this silent?

I understand he was released from prison after only serving five years for what he did to America's children. I think the only reason he served time was because the IRS investigated him. Prob. only charged with fraud. Everyone involved with these acts against the children that were placed in their care should be hung in public, for all the country and world to see what happens to scum that dare harm our children. The trail of this two legged rat leads all the way from Nebraska to the Bush White House.

I have no sympathy for Joe P. or anyone at Penn State that didn't go straight to the police when their own piece of filth committed his crime. The whole rotten University Adm. should be fired and some prosecuted. Same for DC. The only way to ever clean up the mess they have created, is to remove them all, and start over.Sad thing is.........It would take a revolution to do it.

The American voter's are so programmed, they only see the harm done by the opposing party. They cannot see their side is just as corrupt.

Mdwest corrected TM7's incorrect claim that Joe Paterno had a law degree.
They took down the bronze statue of Joe at Penn State.

..TM7
.
That, also, is a false proclamation.
