Thanks giving morning I went to check out an area that I have never trapped before for muskrats. While doing so I found a pinch point that I thought a 330 would fill in nicely. I went back Friday Afternoon to make the sets. It was in waist deep water where a back water meets the main river. One side was a steep bank with a drift pile that was almost vertical. The other was a mud bar. At the base of the bar I set the trap. I held the trap in place with two 1"x 1" x 4' stakes. On the bar I moved a water logged log to help block that side. I didn't see any otter sign but knew they must be in the area. I checked early Saturday morning before sunrise. When I got to that set I noticed one of my wood stakes floating near the set. I figured a rat fired the trap but was pleasantly surprised when I shined the flash light in the water and saw an otter in my trap.
