TC Hot Shot .22LR

Does anyone know anything about these little youth rifles other than the mimimalist info TC has on their site about them? I picked one up for one of my grandsons to shoot when he comes to visit.

It looks a lot like the G2 or Encore just smaller tho I have to believe the action is different inside based on the trigger action. It appears to be .22 rimfire only with no options.

The example I have opens far easier than any Contender or Encore I've owned and has a very nice trigger pull. It came with a peep sight at the back end of barrel and I got a kit to scope it as well.

Seems to be a really nice little beginners rifle for youths and even comes with a spacer to increase length of pull by an inch as they grow. Based on the retail price I paid $220 the entire gun is less than a barrel for the other TC single shots goes for these days much less the frame. If they can make this little rifle in that price point I wonder why they can't do it with the G2.

 We bought my son one for Christmas after him handling one at a gunshow and I'm glad we did. We had bought him a Cricket before that and he just wasn't too excited about it. After handling the Hotshot he decided he wanted to trade the Cricket for the Hotshot. Now anytime the safe opens he wants to handle it and since he uses a Contender carbine in 6.8 for youth deer it made a perfect rifle to practice with. I do have to admit it is kind of fun to play with..

I thought about picking one of these up to play with in lieu of buying a .22 barrel for my encore. 


I would guess the steel in the receiver and even the barrel is alot lower quality than that of an Encore or Contender, making it much cheaper to produce.

When it was first advertised a while ago, I was disappointed to find out its a noninterchangeable barrel for the Thompson Center Hot Shot 22 LR.
 
I am wondering though, does the barrel come off the frame using a hinge pin, like the T/C Encore and T/C (G2) Contender or is it a fixed frame/barrel setup?

That tells you they charge too much for contender and encore barrels.

I bought one for our Grandson; it’s a super little gun for him.  I wish they made an adult size stock for them; it would be a super backpacking rifle for an adult with a full length stock.

How about as a promo model, to promote future sales of full sized G2's and Encores by today's youth?
