handi rifle double set triggers

I am wondering whether or not you could put double set triggers on an H&R/nef handi rifle. I know its not necessarily needed but it would be cool to have. How much would it cost and has this been done?

I always say anything is possible.  We are only talking about wood and steel, neither care how they are arranged.  As for pricing and fitting and actually getting the steel to do what you want, well that is where the rub is.  A single set trigger might be more doable, but the visual effect would not be there.

I know our "search" on our site leaves much to be desired, but IIRC,  some time ago this came up and was a topic of interest.
 
Maybe Tim remembers and has more patience than I finding it...

There have been discussions on adding traditional trigger guards to replace the plastic tho, maybe that's what you're recollecting.

Roger that on the brass furnature.  But no I was remembering double set trigger conversations. At least that old Tim maybe older....  It's easier to narrow these down with an author. I'll try again when I get on a land line..

 It would take some significant changes to the current sear configuration of the hammer/trigger set-up on the Handi for a DSDT trigger to work.
 Just looking at the schematic on page 4 here,, http://www.hr1871.com/documents/manuals/HR_NEF_HANDI_RIFLE_MANUAL.pdf
,,I can't see how the existing trigger could be used. It would require a completely different sear/cam assembly for the Double Set Trigger bar too actuate. Even typical single set triggers need some kind of sear lever or arm to strike for disengagement.
 While possible I guess, it would take some machine shop fabricating.
