Current Remington Express Quality

Looking on getting either a Remington Express 12 Ga shotgun, OR a Browning BPS Stalker.  I have read many internet forums stating the quality control has been substandard with the Remington Express shotgun line.  Has this issue been overblown?  Help me decide.  Which one and why?  Your replies would be very helpful.

Howdy Norseman,  I think it is overblown as you said above. I got a 870 Super Mag back in the Spring and have no complaints. Own 2 of the 870 Express as well. Seem to be fine shotguns. When you go to buy yours, you'll have the chance to look it over carefully for yourself and make your own decision. I bought mine for Turkey hunting only, what is your intended purpose? The reason I ask is Mossberg has a model which is supposed to be near the tops as far as patterning goes. Also consider the Benelli Super-Nova. I can think of no fault to mine, a .655 choke and Hevi-13 #7's is a turkey killer out to 60yds.

i own both of them they are both good guns the 870 is my deer gun
and the BPS is my turkey gun i do think that the BPS is a better built gun
but the on that i have is 20years old but the 870 has not let me down it will go bang
 all the time and has been used hard in rain snow and -20 degrees temp i trust it

I've owned a few of the Express guns and they are from my experience a bit rough on the inside. I didn't keep any of them and haven't bought one in a long time.

I do still have my Wingmaster and have no plans to get rid of it and might even pick up another some day. I have a Browning also and have to say it's not nearly as user friendly as the Wingmaster. I doubt I'd buy another but prolly will keep the one I have.

If it were me I'd go with a Wingmaster.

I've bought a few new expresses I like them alot no problems at all I duck hunt, upland bird hunt , turkeys, coyote, etc with my 12 and 20 gauge express. I think the issues that you see on the Internet are overblown. I've never seen a bps so no comment there.

If your left handed get the BPS otherwise get the 870 they have more meat to them and recoil less. I bought my Express when they first came out in the 80's? with no problems at all.

I've had an Express in 12 Ga for about 5 or 6 years now, and once had a Browning pump in 20 ga.  I don't use the Express much, but tend to agree with Graybeard when he says that this particular model is kind of rough.  When I get around to it I'll trade it for a good used Wingmaster if I can find one in good shape.  As for the Browning, I bought it because I'm a lefty. I didn't like it because I found myself having to reach out at almost full arms length to hold the forearm.  This wasn't a comfortable gun for me so I sold it.
